Spring
is a special time at A Little Log Cabin
in the Woods. The newly renovated West
Baden Hotel and the French Lick Resort, Casino
and Spa are now open for business. Party hearty,
gamble, or shop to your heart's content, then return to the
solitude and privacy of your cozy cabin to restore your soul
in your own private hot tub. The stone fireplace in the cabin
is one of the best, and we supply the firewood!
In order to help preserve the historic 150-year old
cabin:
- no smoking is allowed in or around the cabin
- no pets are allowed
- adults only (21+ years of age, maximum of 4) are
allowed

Little Log Cabin in the Woods is adjacent to Hoosier
National Forest and close to several great HNF hiking,
biking and horseback riding trails. The cabin is also less
than a mile from Patoka Lake, Indiana's second largest
and most beautiful lake. The historic towns of French Lick
and West Baden are just minutes away, and slopes of
the Paoli Peaks ski resort are only a fifteen minute
drive. Canoeing and kayaking on the Blue River are
forty minutes away. Several nice golf courses are also a short
drive away, and golf packages are available.
We cater to all who love the outdoors. With its many amenities
and nearby attractions, A Little Log
Cabin in the Woods is the perfect hideaway for:

- hikers, bicyclists, skiers, birders, wildflower enthusiasts

| Birding Update: The birds let us know
that Spring is really coming. Northern harriers
on our prairie are performing their aerial courtship displays,
migrating waterfowl are stopping by for a rest on our
two ponds and streams of Sandhill cranes
have been seen often on their way north. Bluebirds
are being seen and are checking out the numerous houses
on the property. We hope we will hear the Bob white call
of the quail in the spring but fear that
the many days of ice-covered vegetation may have done
many of them in. With the habitat we provide for them
they will surely make a comeback. Click

After dusk you may choose star gazing under Orange County's
amazing night sky, one of the few places in the Midwest with
no light pollution from nearby cities. You can enjoy the view
from the wrap-around deck or NEW hot tub. If you're
lucky, you may hear a coyote or Great-Horned Owl serenade.
An outside campfire ring is a popular spot during cool evenings
in the spring and fall.
Visitors
to the eleven-mile long Patoka Lake will enjoy the
Newton Stewart recreation area with picnic areas, beach, ten
miles of paved cycling trails and a nature center with guided
nature hikes. Boat rentals are available at several places.
Guests can enjoy a self-guided Amish country driving tour
with the marked map we provide, and we are happy to help you
find other fun things to do while you are in the area. Call
us with your interests and we will be glad to guide you to
that special place. Personal guided eco-tours are available
as schedules permit.
